Omaha Correctional Center
Administration Building
Roof Replacement
Location:
The State of Nebraska and Jackson – Jackson and Associates Inc. investigated seven different options for reroofing of this building. The original roof systems installed in 1982, when the building was new, had reached their life expectancy and a number of roofing failures were being experienced. The existing 206 lineal feet of metal barrel vault roofing structure was a particularly problematic maintenance feature. Upon review, it was decided to re-roof the existing EPDM membrane roofing portion of the building with a new EPDM membrane system and install a pre-formed radiused aluminum standing seam metal roof system with urethane insulation over the metal barrel vault roofing structure for optimal energy efficiency. The new standing seam metal roof was an innovative design solution challenging the design limits of the material to the tightest radius the manufacturer has ever fabricated.
