First Congregational Church
New Church
Weeping Water, Nebraska
Location:
Completion:
March 1991
Size:
10,000 sq. ft.
This church was designed to replicate several architectural elements of the congregation’s old church facility, which was destroyed by fire the year before. This church also incorporated new architectural elements to meet changing needs. The single story, 10,000 sq. ft. structure includes a 200 seat sanctuary, lecture and fellowship spaces, classrooms, kitchen, mechanical rooms and offices. The lecture area, fellowship area and sanctuary were designed with flexibility in mind. The lecture area can become an overflow space from either the sanctuary or fellowship area. Materials used in construction are similar to the original brick and stone masonry structure of the former church. Stained glass, salvaged from the fire, was incorporated in prominent locations to record the history of this 100 year old congregation.
