Renovation
Completion:
June 2011
Peru, Nebraska
Location:
Size:
28,100 sq. ft.
This project consisted of the complete reorganization of this 28,000 sq. ft. Fine Arts building interior to provide better function, building code and ADA guideline upgrades to meet current standards and energy efficiency improvements. College staff and administration were heavily involved with our firm in the planning and design of this building to accommodate current fine arts functions on the campus and to bring the building up to current building and accessibility requirements. The renovated building includes a new black box theatre that also serves as a storm shelter, enlarged band and choir rooms, individual practice rooms, offices, classrooms and a recording studio. Acoustical performance will be a major factor in the success of this project. The building renovation was designed to make the building more sustainable in terms of energy efficiency. A ground loop heat pump system was installed for heating and cooling the building and natural light was introduced into many spaces through the addition of windows and solar tubular devices in upper level classrooms.
