KPTM Television Station and Transmitting Tower

Project Location: Omaha, Nebraska

Completion Date: June 1986

Cost:  $420,000

Pappas Telecasting of the Midlands entered the Omaha market as a new commercial independent television station in 1986. It was imperative that an existing building be found and modified to meet their needs, since time did not allow for construction of a new main television station. Remodeling of an existing insurance office building for their use was accomplished by removing part of the second floor of a 3-story building to allow for adequate studio height. The first floor was remodeled for production, studio, and tape editing uses, and to accept all electronic equipment needed for station use. The second floor was designed for executive offices and business support offices. The top floor was designed for news staff and promotion operations. We also designed the foundations for a new transmitting tower adjacent to this building.

The construction of a large transmitter building in rural Gretna, NE, was also designed by our firm.
